Abbie Creek, cut into the rolling countryside of southeastern Alabama, meanders like so many other streams in the area toward the Chattahoochee. And like most others, it is home to sites of R. minus. These grow mostly on the upper edge of north-facing slopes above a stream. A few miles away, R. alabamense also thrives on Abbie Creek, but on the flats near the creek rather than on a steep slope. Here in this locality the plants form countless runners.
