Located in western North Carolina, just south of the Great Smoky Mountains the neighbouring peaks Wine Spring Bald and Wayah Bald host large numbers of R. calendulaceum and R. arborescens. In addition, there is wonderful, ancient Kalmia latifolia on Wine Spring Bald.
