25.03.2022 Chiploa River near Marianna (FL, Jackson Co.)

Near the small town of Marianna, the Chipola River winds through the landscape. While its water level was still normal during my visit on 23.11.2021 (see there), the Chipola River was in flood today, so that even some of the R. austrinum in the lower part of the steep slope were completely submerged in water. Unfortunately, because of the cold winter, spring was not quite as far along as it should be. So only a few yellow R. austrinum were blooming, the pink clone growing there had no open flowers yet and also in R. alabamense almost all buds were still closed. Instead, a Sisyrinchium, whose species affiliation I could not determine, bloomed in blue and rarely in white.
