27.03.2018 Escambia River bluffs near Jay (FL, Santa Rosa Co.)

The botton of the Escambia valley is about 3-4km (1.8-2.5M) wide and entirely flat. This valley is bordered by hills with in parts very steep bluffs. Besides R. austrinum these bluffs harbour a very remarkable flora. Near Jay, not far from the Alabama border we explored such bluffs and we even found a nicely tomato red flowered R. austrinum.
