Today we took a boat ride along the Escambia River upriver from the delta. We started at Webb Landing situated at the Delaney River, a side branch of the Escambia. From here we went southward until the branch-off of the White River and back again. R. austrinum was in full bloom and showed all kinds of colors. An additional highlight was a very old specimen of Vaccinium arboreum growing closely to the river bank. There is probably no bigger tree of this blueberry species.
