04.08.2019 Mount Rainier, Sunrise (WA, Pierce Co.)

Daytrip to Mount Rainier, a huge glaciated and very majestic stratovolcano in Washington. First pictures from a short stop at Reflection Lake, where I could find a single R. albiflorum.

The hike was then from Sunrise: Sunrise – Shadow Lake – Emmons Overlook – Burroughs Mountain – Frozen Lake – Sunrise – Wonderland Trail – White River Campground (12,5km/7.8M, 330m/1080ft elevation gain, 960m/3150ft elevation loss). A single R. albiflorum grew directly at the Sunrise parking lot. However, its buds were still tightly closed due to the high altitude. A few more plants I found along the steep descent to White River Campground. Otherweise there was everywhere a wonderful alpine flora!
