In the area where Mountain Creek joins Peterman Creek, we hit the bushes and worked our way down the slope toward the creek through the dense and wet undergrowth of the forest. At first we found lots of R. alabamense and a little later large colonies of R. minus. Only until we found the only R. prunifolium it took a little longer. Unfortunately we were quickly chased away again, because somewhere there must have been a nest of Yellowjackets, a kind of wasp. The critters started stinging and chased me back to the car, where we finally slayed the last of them. I had to leave parts of the collected herbarium material in the forest.
